Attracting Change and Good Fortune using Feng Shui

By Jane Dempster-Smith

Every year the Feng Shui energies change on the 4th February. You can tap into these energies on a yearly basis to achieve the goals that you want for the forthcoming year. This year is the Year of the Ox and there are certain areas that you can enhance to attract abundance up until 3rd February 2010. Although we are nearly at the end of the Year of the Ox the following recommendations can still be put in place. The Year of the Tiger 2010 will commence on 4th February, 2010.

The simplest way to ascertain where these areas are is to have a professionally drawn floor plan to scale of your premises, a compass and a ruler. You will need to square off your floor plan e.g. that is draw dotted lines beyond any irregular areas until the floor plan is square. Do not include any open areas such as your balcony or carport, but you will have to take into account any irregular shaped rooms or missing sectors to demarcate the central area of your premises. Now stand in the middle of your apartment or home with your compass pointing North and draw out North, South, East, West, then also show the following sectors as well - South East, North East, North West and South West.
Once you have located the sectors within your home we can now work with them to achieve your goals for the year.

After some more wealth? The South East sector this year has the #8 annual wealth star residing there. If you have a main door to your home or office located here you will benefit from the effects of the star such as financial returns and enhanced career prospects. Do not dismay if you do not have any doors here you can still activate the sector by using items such as an aquarium, TV, a pendulum clock or fan.

There is also a secondary wealth sector and that is the North West. The annual #1 energy is there for the year and you will experience new beginnings, new ventures and happy events if you have a door, office or study located here. If you are thinking of starting a family or getting married this year you can also use this sector. Gua 4 or Gua 6 people will benefit the most from using this sector.
Recognition in your career? Want to climb the corporate ladder or seek a promotion try using the South West sector as the annual #6 is located there. Even better if your office or main door is located here.

Starting a new course, studying or writing your first novel? The best sector this year for you to work in is the South sector. If you sit or sleep here you will reap the benefits of the #4 energy which is positive for writers, scholars, researchers and students studying for exams.
Looking for romance? Try using your South sector as well, it s great for improving relationships.
Want to improve your health this year? Avoid the West sector especially if you have already a recurring illness. The #2 sickness energy is located in the West so if you have been experiencing nagging health issues this is the reason why and it is recommended for you to change bedrooms for the year.

Want the upperhand in meetings or important discussions: Each year there is a particular energy called the Grand Duke and it is recommended not to face him. To gain the upper hand in negotiations and any important meetings this year it is advisable to sit with your back to the North East – in other words it is best to have him behind you and not in front of you.

Feng Shui is all about enhancing specific areas in your premises to attract the things you want in life. But there are also some negative areas to watch as well:

The North sector: is the most negative sector for the year and it is recommended not to undertake any drilling, ground breaking or renovating in this sector. The repercussions are mishaps and obstacles.

The other negative sectors are the East, South West 1 and North East 1. It is also recommended to keep these areas renovation and ground breaking free during the Year of the Ox.
