what is feng shui?

Feng means wind and Shui means water. The definition of Feng Shui is “The energy (Qi) of the dragon (mountain) will be dispersed by wind and will stop at the boundary of water”. Water is important in Feng Shui because it carries the Qi in the environment. Water is classified as yang as it is always moving eg the rivers, oceans and streams. Mountains are classified as yin because they do not move. Feng Shui is harnessing the good Qi in your environment and negating the effects of the negative Qi. The major benefit is a healthy and prosperous environment to live in.

Feng Shui adopts the principles of balance – yin and yang. The earth’s gravity, electromagnetic fields and its surrounding constellations all have control over our lives.

Feng Huang Consulting practices Classical Feng Shui. Classical Feng Shui is not about placing objects to cure any deficits or setbacks in a place's Feng Shui. It is about identifying the Qi in your environment and tapping into this Qi to assist us in our goals.  Classical Feng Shui is not about interior design, decoration, colour or items.

Feng Shui was first used about 3000 years ago. At that time it was known as Kan Yu. It is the study of landforms by using yin and yang principles and the 5 elements i.e. wood, water, metal, earth and fire. This is known as San He Feng Shui.

San Yuan, a later system of Feng Shui was thought to make its presence at the end of the Tang Dynasty (618AD – 907AD) and involves time and space dimensions. San Yuan also includes Dragon Gate Eight Formations, Time and Space 64 Hexagrams, Flying Stars and Eight Mansions.

what is flying star feng shui?

A Feng Shui consultant may use Flying Star Feng Shui to ascertain the chi flow in your environment. They will prepare a flying star chart of the premises, based on the facing direction of the building or apartment, the age of the premises and the floor plan.

This chart shows the energies (for Flying Stars) at the time the building was first occupied and whether or not the premises has been receiving good or bad luck. All buildings go through changes of energy in 20 year cycles, so a building that may have brought you good luck in one 20 year cycle may not necessarily bring you good luck in the next.

Energies also change annually, monthly, daily and hourly. There are 9 Mountain Star energies that govern human harmony and health and 9 Water Star energies that govern wealth.

what is eight mansions?

You can tap into your favourable directions for financial gain and successful relationships by using the Eight Mansions Feng Shui Life Gua system. Your gua number is determined by your year of birth calculated from the solar calendar, which begins on 4 February each year.

Your Gua number will determine whether you belong to the East or West group of people and what your four favourable and unfavourable directions are. Favourable directions will assist in wealth luck, good health, harmony and general good fortune. Your unfavourable directions, on the other hand, can cause obstacles, hassles, loss of money, fire hazards, relationship problems and other misfortunes.

A building is divided into nine sectors, the centre of the building plus eight directional sectors - North, South, East, West, North East, North West, South East and South West. Each of these eight directions has favourable or unfavourable Qi and will influence all that reside there.
